Executive Functioning Tools and Development
Working Memory
If your student struggles with learning and following directions at home or at school, they may need help with improving their working memory. I can provide tools, activities, and strategies that help their short term memory including opportunities for multi-sensory learning, visual checklists, creative gameplay, and deep reading strategies.
Self-control
Students who have a hard time with controlling their behavioral impulses or are “hard to manage” are simply kids that are still learning how to communicate effectively. I can help your students learn to manage their impulses and emotional outbursts by providing flexible learning environments, firm and positive redirection, and by working side by side with your child to build systems that promote healthy responses and behavior.
Mental Flexibility
Students will be presented with a variety of activities to improve their cognitive adaptability in different situations. This will be done through the use of social stories, imaginative play, academic activities that require more than one solving strategy, and writing exercises that allow students to view a situation from multiple perspectives. These activities will help your student feel ready to face new challenges and have a growth mindset!
